 1 credit, 2 semesters, Grades 10-12

 

Medical Careers and Systems- Medical Terminology is a yearlong course that provides students the opportunity to explore a career in healthcare.  Students will gain knowledge and skills in law and ethics, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, safety, infection control, and employability. CPR certification is available.  

Unique to this course is the extensive study of Medical Terminology.

Medical terminology is the study of the principles of medical word building to help the student develop the extensive medical vocabulary used in health care occupations.  Students will gain an understanding of basic elements, rules of building and analyzing medical words, and medical terms associated with the body as a whole. If you're interested in pursuing a health and science career requiring the ability to communicate with physicians, nurses, dentists, or other medical professionals, this class will meet all your needs. This course is recommended for students interested in taking a future health science certification course. 

Completion of this course is recommended prior to taking any CTE certifying health science course.

Articulation: Students are eligible to take the Macomb Community College Medical Terminology and or Body Systems exam for credit.
